Chromium Plating:

Applications: Components such as landing gear, hydraulic actuators, and various structural parts benefit from chromium plating to improve durability and longevity.


Nickel Plating:

Purpose: Nickel plating is used for its corrosion resistance and ability to serve as an undercoat for other metals.

Applications: Nickel plating is employed in aerospace for various components, including fasteners, connectors, and hydraulic system parts.

  

Electroless Nickel Plating:

Purpose: Electroless nickel plating offers uniform coatings with excellent corrosion resistance and wear properties.

Applications: Aerospace applications include critical components in aircraft engines, hydraulic systems, and various structural parts.


Cadmium Plating:

Purpose: Cadmium plating provides excellent corrosion resistance and is particularly effective in preventing galvanic corrosion when in contact with aluminum.

Applications: Cadmium plating is used in aerospace for fasteners, connectors, and critical components exposed to harsh environmental conditions.


Silver Plating:

Purpose: Silver plating is valued for its electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and solderability.

Applications: Aerospace applications include electrical connectors, switches, and components requiring high electrical conductivity.


Gold Plating:

Purpose: Gold plating is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and solderability.

Applications: Gold-plated surfaces are used in aerospace for connectors, switches, and critical electrical contacts where reliability is crucial.


Tin Plating:

Purpose: Tin plating is chosen for its corrosion resistance and ability to enhance solderability.

Applications: Aerospace applications include electronic components, connectors, and certain fasteners.

  

These electroplating processes and coatings are chosen based on the specific requirements of aerospace components, considering factors such as material compatibility, environmental conditions, and the need for corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and electrical conductivity. The goal is to enhance the performance, durability, and reliability of critical aerospace components and systems.
